Peter Turck (1798-1872) was one of Mequon's first white settlers and earliest civic boosters. Peter Turck, his wife Rachael (Gay) Turck and seven (of eventually eight) children arrived in Milwaukee on August 27, 1837 and immediately established themselves at a homesite on Pigeon Creek, Mequon, only a mile or so from the future site of the Jonathan Clark House.
Peter Turck's eldest child, daughter Mary, met and married Jonathan Clark in March, 1840. Not surprisingly, the Clark and Turck family and business interests would be intertwined for many years.
